Data Service
The electronic transfer of data or digital information.

Dead Spot
A location in the coverage area where the network does not provide sufficient coverage.

Digital
A method for information storage or transmission in which the information is converted into a series of numbers. Most wireless phones and networks use digital technologies.
Digital PCS
The title of the 1900 mHz bandwidth assigned by the FCC. This bandwidth supports digital transmissions only (no analog). Combines a variety of advanced features and services such as call display and text messaging. Digital also provides you with increased call privacy and security and increases battery, talk and stand-by times.

Digital Indicator
A visual indication that the phone is operating in the digital mode.
Dual band
A feature on some mobile phones that allows the handset to operate using either the 800 MHz cellular or the 1900 MHz PCS frequencies.

Dual mode

A mobile phone which is able to operate on both analog or digital networks.
