Call Forwarding
A feature that allows the user to transfer incoming calls to another phone number.

Call Waiting

A feature that alerts you if a call comes in while you're on the phone. You can choose to answer the call or it will forward to your voice mail.

Caller ID

A feature that displays the names and/or numbers of incoming callers on your phone's LCD.

Carrier

A company that provides telecommunications services.

CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access)
A type of digital cellular communications that allots a unique numerical code to each wireless conversation, allowing a number of calls to be transmitted simultaneously on one radio frequency. CDMA uses a spread-spectrum method to spread the digital signal over 1.25 MHz.
CDMA2000 1X/Third Generation (3G)
A digital wireless technology with increased speed and value-added applications such as high-speed Internet access, music downloads. Allows greater bandwidth and opening the way to increased data-over-wireless solutions. The benefits offered by 1X are speeds up to 153 Kbps, increased standby time for wireless phones and a more robust mobile Internet experience through better response time and ability to display multimedia and higher quality graphics.

Cell Broadcast
You can receive general messages broadcast to a group of phone numbers such as weather or financial updates.

Cell Site

The transmission and reception equipment, including the base station antenna that connects a mobile phone to the network.

Cellular
A wireless telephone service that provides two-way voice and data communications through handheld phones. Also commonly accepted as the name of the 800mHz bandwidth. This bandwidth supports analog and digital transmissions.

Cellular Signal
The radio waves that carry information between your mobile phone and the cellular system.
Cellular System
The cellular equipment in a given geographic area that relays signals to and from individual cellular telephones and the landline telephone system.

Channel
A path along which a communications signal is transmitted.
